Abortion

This is not meant to be a political endorsement of any person or political party.

I have to admit that abortion is a big issue for me. I am utterly opposed to it. For me, it is an issue of justice. If we are not a just society to those who have the least control then it will be difficult to be just at all.

For me, it is also a race issue. This website gives the best details that I have found to show that abortions are being specifically targeted at the black community. The website states:

The purpose of this website is to reveal the disproportionate number of black babies exterminated by the abortion industry in America.
Although black women constitute only 6% of the population, they comprise 36% of the abortion industry’s clientele. The leading abortion providers have chosen to exploit blacks by locating 94% of their abortuaries in urban neighborhoods with high black populations.
This high rate of abortion has decimated the black family and destroyed black neighborhoods to the detriment of society at large.

The founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, had roots in racism and aimed her organization in that direction. An organization that had from its very inception had a group of leaders who used abortion as an attack on a race.

The whole thing idea of abortion is appalling to me. To consider that it is legal in our society causes me to question the idea that we are in any way a civilized nation.

Most of all, abortion is an issue of the image of God. The taking of human life is an attack on God himself. What God "knit together" man destroys.

I pray that God will awaken our nation's conscience to this sin and we will repent.

How do you feel about abortion?

In addition to what you wrote, I think that abortion is an incredibly selfish thing to do. As an adopted child, I take offense to people who say that an unborn child does not have a right to life unless it's "wanted". Another argument is that women should be able to have sex without the responsibility of a child, as a man does. Again, abject selfishness.

I find that website about the abortion industry appalling. Although the statistic that "Although black women constitute only 6% of the population, they comprise 36% of the abortion industry’s clientele." is a bit misleading, as men don't get abortions, right? So, it's still a ridiculously uneven proportion, but not as bad as that makes it sound.

Aaron,
Can't agree with you more.

Kindra,
I tried just to talk about the issue, but you made it political with your links. Honestly, how can it not be. The one link quoted one of the more disturbing things that I have heard from Barack.

"Look, I got two daughters -- 9 years old and 6 years old. ... I am going to teach them first about values and morals, but if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby."

"Punished with a baby."

Come on, are you serious? Punished with a baby? This is sad. When I first heard him say this it really began to convince me that I could not vote for him. At least hem and haw and say it is above your pay grade.

Oops... sorry about making it political :)

Kindra,
Not a problem. It is impossible not to in the season we are in. Abortion is definately a political issue, but outside of politics it is a national tragedy.

It is about justice.
It is about the dignity of life.
It is about the image of God.

Sometimes it becomes so political that we forget how serious it is.

i think it's wrong, just the rest of us here, but isn't ALL sin wrong, does not ALL sin separate us from God?

Politically -- how many politicians have ade a lasting effect on the abortion issue? As far as president...i know the big thing is Supreme Court justices. But if are law is at best vague, or flat out wrong, i would want a judge who would interpet the law as it is written, even if it is bad, so we can all see what needs to be changed.

We had the Dred Scott case...which helped provide a basis for needing the 13th, 14th & 15th amendments.

We have have far more technology than the writers of the consitution, who probably coldn't conceive of millions of abortions a year. And now, we also have tech pushing back the timeline of viability...my own daghter, born at ~ 23 weeks, is now a healthy 3 1/2 year old.

Education is the key, and giving more options of women, and really, holding men repsonsible for their sexual actions (which we can't do with abortion).
