I just returned from the CCDA annual conference. The CCDA spends a lot of time and attention seeking to bring the love of Christ to the “poor”. I have heard other Christians say that there is no mandate to care for the poor.
Do you think that Christians have a responsibility to care for the poor in society?
What Biblical evidence to you have?

Hey Kevin. I think there definitely is a mandate. As you said Sunday, it starts within the body, but then extends out from that. It's really obvious that there was that responsibility for God's people in the OT. Are we really to believe that that responsibility ended for God's people in the NT? I don't think so, especially in light of verses in james and 1 john and the words and life of Jesus himself.
